Local high school students are raising awareness for the importance of teachers by interviewing a few of the educators. Thomas Mallard and Reese Fulton were given an assignment to promote Teacher Awareness this week. They interviewed different teachers and students and asked them about how important a teacher is and how they impact their lives. Darrion Jackson stated, “Mrs. Kincaid helps motivate us by encouraging us to do the best of our abilities.” Shonna Ryals, one of the English teachers at LHS said, “I love whenever that “light bulb moment” happens for a student and you know that they understand. Some students say they don’t care but they really do. They want to learn and they want to know more.” Thomas Mallard and Reese Fulton got the teachers to speak out about what they think of their students and how they impact their lives. They also got the students to tell them how teachers are underappreciated and how they encourage them to do their best. Teachers are taken for granted and we need to recognize that epidemic and appreciate them everyday.
